I called one of the prettiest girls at High School out on a date with this song in the background, she said NO! she is old now and FUCKLY but this song still rocks!
Yeah, yeah, ah, yeah
I live my life like there's no tomorrow
And all I've got, I had to steal
Least I don't need to beg or borrow
Yes I'm livin' at a pace that kills
Ooh, yeah
(Ahh)
Runnin' with the devil
(Ahh-hah, yeah)
(Woo-hoo-oo)
Runnin' with the devil
Yes I'm, yeah, hoo
Ooh, you know I
I found the simple life ain't so simple
When I jumped out, on that road
I got no love, no love you'd call real
Ain't got nobody, waitin' at home
Runnin' with the devil
(Hold on, hold on I'm runnin' ah yeah)
Runnin' with the devil
(Ooh ooh, one more time)
Runnin' with the devil
(Oh, yeah, ya-yeah)
Runnin' with the devil
(Woo, woo)
Runnin' with the devil
(I'll tell you about it)
I found the simple life, it's so simple
When I jumped out, on that road
I got no love, no love you'd call real
Ain't got nobody, waitin' at home
Runnin' with the devil
(Oh, yeah)
Runnin' with the devil
(Ah-ha, yeah, ah-ha, yeah, ah-hah, yeah)
Runnin' with the devil
I remember as a young Black kid moving into an all-white neighborhood this is what the white boys were listening to. I distinctly remember certain bands that were big. My earliest memory is the Bay City Rollers and Kiss. Then Queen, then Van Halen just took over the game. I'm happy to have grown up on funk and pure hard ass rock like Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Dio, and Ozzy.
I remember hearing this song when I was 8 on the radio for the first time in my dad's old 1977 Pontiac Trans Am while we were going to get groceries and I asked him I want to run with with the devil and he smiled and said you already are. Rip dad
When I was 14 I had Van Halen posters all over my room. Obsessed with the band and their photos. I'm 50 now and a a professional concert photographer who's been photographing 75-100 bands a year for the last 25 years.. A couple years ago, and for the first time, I got to stand 10 feet away from Eddie and the boys and photograph them live. At Red Rocks no less. It was truly sublime and I nearly had a heart attack from sheer joy. I remained focused however and got some fabulous shots of the boys. Now I have my own Van Halen posters hanging in my office that I shot personally. Full Circle. Love you and thank you David, Alex, Michael and Eddie!
I saw VH in 1978 when they supported Black Sabbath on a UK tour. I had never heard of the band before, but within 15 minutes i was hooked. They walked on stage played this, followed by "Eruption", then straight into "You really got me". They stole the show and TBH, i can't even remember anything that Black Sabbath sang that night.
