the story goes he worked some where at night bought a guitar late in life taught himself and used his thumb not to make a lot of noise while the family slept
and can not read music ..lord have mercy
This was the first album a family member received for his first phonograph, ya' know the one with the one speaker. This is true jazz with an orchestra. The strings, "off the chain." Still hot after 45 years. The new musicians should take a text. MSA.
started listening to WES MONTGOMERY the year he passed away 1968.... I was 20yrs old and became a major JAZZ fan '....how lucky I am and blessed !!!!!!
My dad got my a cheap guitar from Sears when I was 13. I got so close to sounding like Wes on that thing that my good old dad took me to Wallach's Music City and got me the Gibson ES 175 and a brand new Twin Reverb. I was 15 at the time and Kenny Burrell, and Grant Green were my church but Wes was my religion. I still own every vinyl album he ever recorded and will not part with them. Wes transcended smooth. Still is!!!
