wow amazing fab i was brought up on these types of records from 60s=70s what a music legend singer gene pitney was this song does not get the airplay it deserves listen how he holds the notes on i and girl magical words /music
gene was a unique talent sadly missed i love all his hits and others very emototional singer well supported by a superb orchestra /production similar in some respect to roy orbison another legend these artists are truly heartfelt timeless voices once you here genes voice you just know hes lived the good/bad times all enjoy
I went to see Gene many times over the 40 years that he came over to England. He never gave one bad performance. We had our tickets in 2006 to see him at the "Phil" in Liverpool and I was devastated when he passed away a few days before he was due to appear. There is not a day I do not play his songs. Will always miss him.
I've loved gene from the first time I heard him when I was a teenager what a voice no one like him I enjoy all his songs such a sad loss to the music world R.I.P. gene you are greatly missed.
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards - first song they had that did anything in the US or G. Br. - The Stones recorded it eventually but never released it.
and trust me when i say -- i was there, and It Hurts To Be In Love was THE single of summer 1964. (along with Wishin' and Hopin' by Dusty Springfield, over here in america/which bizarrely wasn't a UK single). beatles, stones, all of them -- nothing then or now topped Pitney's (arguably) very best of his handful of flat out HOF perfect 45s.
even if you're arguing that point, it is inarguable that It Hurts To Be In Love has THE. COOLEST. SOUNDING. DRUM. KIT. EVER.
