After forgetting about this for many years I bizarrely heard it in a dream last night and decided to check it out here. It's as good as I remember. Classic Japan.

For some reason Japan seems to have become an overlooked and almost forgotten band of the 80's. This is despite producing some of the classiest material of that decade.

If ever a song fitted its title, this is it. Genuinely goose-bump inducing

Just wondering what some people think about this- If you turn up the volume at the beginning, you can just barely hear the space age sounds before they trigger in time. I am not sure why this is. It was likely unintentional, as it only happens at very high volume. I don't know much about tape, but considering this song was originally mastered on tape, I wonder if it had residual sound from previous recording attempts that didn't get fully wiped. If this is what it is, it's certainly beautiful that we got a piece of history like that even in the Digital Remaster. I don't know for sure, though, so correct me if I'm wrong. It just doesn't make sense to have the sounds there from a technical standpoint.

Apparently I’m here because of Neil Peart because he talked about Japan’s Tin Drum Album, during his 1992 drum clinic.

An eerie, atmospheric classic from a heavily underrated band. Also one of my favorite album covers, too.

Puts most of the synth music made today to shame... These days everyone wants to sound like the latest 5-minute wonder, and sound design and synthesis forums are flooded with "how can I make a pluck" posts.

I actually almost forgot this song existed until i heard it last night on Synth Britannia on BBC 4. What a masterpiece this is,it,s an absolute gem. The mood of the song,Davids awesome voice, the odd, eery sounding synths,as well as the rest of the instruments used give it such an extraordinary, special sound.
