sounds like the original hit recording, that I heard on the radio and jukebox when I was about 12 years old. loved this man's voice, he was the greatest of my generation. sad to say, we took good music for granted in those days.
Beautiful voice, silanced at 38 (I think). My friends thought I was a square because I loved opera, and Mario Lanza was my favourite. I think we will never have another one like him. Too hard to beat. During the years I've listened to numerous opera singers, they were good, but still couldn't hold a candle to Mario. Gone but never forgotten.
This song is Mario Lanza's as only he can sing it with such expression & charisma. Just so romantic & heartwarming. Just received the book, Be My Love, ordered on line. Well worth it. Brings tears & smiles. Thanks for posting this beautiful video. M. Lanza & his glorious voice lives on for all generations to enjoy!
I heard Mario Lanza's recording of this as a young child in 1952. It was stunning then and his voice still gives me chills. I think Andrea Bocelli sings Mario Lanza's signature songs with the same passion and equally stunning tenor voice. Bravo, Mario Lanza!!
One of my late father's favourite singers,i couldn't understand why when i was a child, but over the years i can see what my dad saw in him, some 45 years after my dad passed he would be pleased that i play his favourite singer.
Opera snobs have long branded Lanza as a "Hollywood opera star," but this is quite unfair to him. While his voice would never have placed him in Opera's upper stratosphere, he was at least as good as many other stars who were accepted as members of the elite set.
I was thinking about that song. I first heard it when I was still in highschool. It still affects me. He had a wonderful voice and sang with great passion.
