The men at the Alamo were like the men of Prague almost two hundred years earlier before them, Brave, Courageous, and Fearless in the face of tyranny. God bless the men throughout history who fought and died for their Freedom, loved ones, and countries.

I have visited the Alamo many times. Every time, without fail, I feel a chill when I enter the chapel.

"He sent an officer to tell Travis to surrender, Travis answered with a shell, and a rousing Rebel Yell".....I guess, thats a "no".

What some folks don't seem to get is that Santa Ana was increasingly centralising the country, he overturned the 1824 Mexican Constitution, abolished state legislature, and disbanded the militias, it wasn't just the Texians that didn't like this, the citizens of Oaxaca and Zacatecas took up arms in early 1835, but Santa Ana subdued them. It wasn't just Texas which broke away, there was also the "Republic of the Rio Grande" and the "Republic of Yucatan", both fought revolutions, the Republic of Yucatan actually gave official recognition to the Republic of Texas. In fact the Texians were largely happy being part of Mexico before Santa Ana took power, early on in the revolution the Texians were divided between those who simply wanted to return to the 1824 Constitution, and those who wanted independence, in fact the flag which flew over the Alamo was a variant of the Mexican flag with "1824" printed on it, a reference to the fact that many Texians wanted to bring the 1824 Mexican Constitution back through rebellion.

Marty Robbins was a legend. I love that last verse. I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up (and I'm not even American!)
