So the story goes, Elvis' star was on the rise. He was on the same bill as Marty. Marty came into his dressing room and asked him to play "That's All Right". He listened and asked him to play it again. Elvis being a Marty Robbins fan complied. Shortly afterward, this record came out. So basically, what I am trying to say is....Marty Robbins was a piece of shit.

This song is always categorized as Rockabilly, but Marty's version is pure old Country blues. What a great record!

Marty was a genius, and boy could he sing, I didn't know he sang this and going by the date he recorded it , I would say That Elvis took the way he sang from Marty, the only difference being that Elvis's version has more long in it ( if you get my meaning), both great at it anyway.

Elvis made this song his own but Marty Robbins did a class version. He must have heard Elvise's version prior to recording this song because it's remarkably close to presley s style. Nevertheless it's fab.
