This takes me back a bit! One of my favourite Bands from the early 70's. I was lucky enough to see some great Guitarists, but Leslie West was class, for a big guy with fat fingers he certainly could play some mean Guitar, and is up there with the best. Felix Pappalardi was brilliant on Bass too.....watching them compete on duets was truly awesome.
I saw Mountain many, many times at the Filmore in NYC. We'd always make the late show (3 acts and 2 shows per nite in the glory days) and they would play for hours. I joined the Marines in '69 and missed a bit over 2 years of the band. Players are different and you love them because you do. All I will say is that those particular 4 musicians came together during music's magical time when there was magic in the air. I'll aways remember that time with respect for them and joy for the music.
Powerful stuff! I was doing well over 100mph on the 605 outside of L.A. one early Sunday AM in 1976, with this totally cranked on my Ranchero's stereo system when the CHP fuzz busted me! Fortunately, I got a cool cop who only wrote me for 75 because I told him I was late for work. Anything over 100 in those days was automatic jail and mandatory psych evaluation. Those were the days, but if I had the chance, I'd go back there and do the same thing all over again!
