sometimes ride inside of day
Pawnee shadow to possess him, all the sad was in their eyes, the fire that they saw there
And the desert that s dry, where the map was found
And the desert that s dry, the dancing and the singing
And the desert that s dry, look as if they hadn t known
Look as if they hadn t known, sometimes ride inside of day
where the wagons bound
foreign faces by the wayside
foreign faces by the wayside
Sometimes travelin through the darkness, the music when they play, on the grave of no return
Where the map was found, the dancing and the singing, look as if they hadn t known
And the desert that s dry, the dancing and the singing, when the wagons leave the city
And the desert that s dry, on the grave of no return
And the desert that s dry, sometimes travelin through the darkness
dusty roads where they ve gone
The sad was in their eye, dusty roads where they ve gone, sometimes travelin through the darkness
On the grave of no return, where the map was found Mountain, the sad was in their eyes
the sad was in their eye
in a country town
Sometimes travelin through the darkness, the fire that they saw there
In a country town, and the desert that s dry an, pawnee shadow to possess him
Felix sang sweet and melodic. On the flip Lesley was gruff and aggressively old style rock.Great combination...Love all the Mountain records.Just got fresh new copies.
I saw Mountain play this in Memphis, Tennessee, in December, 1970, along with Pacific Gas and Electric, Rare Earth, Chicago Transit Authority and Grand Funk Railroad. What a fabulous concert.
I've imagined that the best way someone could hear this is in a jet plane that has accelerated to the
sound barrier, followed by a sonic boom, right after the last note from Leslie West guitar, as you head on into the clouds.
When the wagons leave the city
For the forest and futher on
Painted wagons of the morning
Dusty roads where they have gone
Sometimes travelinґ through the darkness
Met the summer comin' home
Fallen faces by the wayside
Look as if they might have known
All the sun was in their eye
And the desert thatґs dry
In the country town
Where the laughter sound
Oh the dancing and the singing
Oh the music when they play
Oh the fire that they started
All the girls with no regret
Sometimes they found it
Sometimes they kept it
Ofen lost it on the way
Fought each other to posses it
Sometimes die in sight of day
Oh the sun was in their eye
And the desert thatґs dry
In the country town
Where the laughter sound
I truly think this is one the greatest rock songs ever recorded...Its extremely heavy, yet poetic. Leslie West's guitar solo here is an anthem in itself..don't think I've heard a better rock guitar solo-classic in the truest sense...Great vocal by Felix and just a great band effort and recording!!
There will never be a generation of musicians that changed the world of music so much ,like those born in the late forties , just think of all those that are still with us , and those that are in That Great gig in the sky, thanks to all of them , Rest in Peace Jack Bruce.
Mountain at their absolute best. Felix's vocal and quite simply a perfect guitar solo by the fat man himself----the great Leslie West.,,,,Just Mindbogglingly good!
