Styx is my favorite band of all time, now looking back on it I realize their music was all positive. Especially songs like "Fooling Yourself" and "Blue Collar Man". All the things you go through as a teenager and you think they're the end of the world can make one do things you regret. I am so grateful I listened to songs by Styx that said to me in essence, "Stop feeling sorry for yourself, get up off your ass, get to work, and make it happen" and it did. Kudos Styx for making positive music.
Man, if I could just locate some of that columbium gold that was around when this came out,,, I just might twist one up for old times. Not to mention it was only $30 an ounce
Memories of the geat times back in the 70's...... LOVE IT!!!!! Love Styx!!!!! They had soooo many great songs!!!! Best group!! Love to blast these tunes!!!!!
Equinox is one of the better albums. Keep digging Styx has more hits than just about any band I know. We used to open with this song back in 1977. It was a huge hit on the radio. and yes Everyone would Light up. Those were the days you could smoke up the whole auditorium and nobody cared. Even though I still play and have many Hit songs around the world. I miss those days more when I was nobody.
I remember hearing this song every morning as a sophomore in high school on our school's radio station in 1976, and how appropriate and it was since everyone was getting high before classes back then. It's still one of my favourite songs by STYX and it brings back wonderful memories of that time 43 years later as, I still light up!♥️
Light up everybody
Join us in this celebration
Light up and be happy
Sweet, sweet sounds will fill the air
Every day's a holiday when your lips meet mine
The music's keepin' time with our love
You are here, and so am I
The weather's quite divine
So pass me round your wine, lovely one
All I need is just one hit to get me by
'Cause baby when your near I'm halfway high
Light up, everybody
Join us in this celebration
Light up and be happy
Sweet, sweet sounds will fill the air
Saw Styx on this tour in 1977 when they opened for KISS. They opened with this song --- and trust me - the aroma filled the arena as the audience - Lit Up!
