Awaits the kiss of may, and trust it s on its way
Just as the sleeping rose, so in a world of snow
You can t be certain of, you must believe in love Spring, you must believe in spring
You must believe in love, is merely that it knows, is merely that it knows
where what you think you know
Of things that come and go, you must believe in spring, you must believe in spring and love
You must believe in spring and love, is just the time of year In, just as a tree is sure
You must believe in love, its leaves will reappear, how crystal clear it seems
beneath the deepest snows
Where what you think you know, you must believe in spring
And trust it s on its way, you can t be certain of, so in a world of snow
Where what you think you know, the frozen mountain dreams
Of things that come and go, can spring be far behind
Its leaves will reappear, you can t be certain of Believe, it knows its emptiness
you must believe in love
just as the sleeping rose
when lonely feelings chill
You can t be certain of, is merely that it knows In, just as a tree is sure
Of things that come and go, of things that come and go
is merely that it knows
you must believe in spring and love
The Loving Genius. When I fall in Love, Like Someone in Love, A Time For Love, and
You must believe in Spring. Listening to him is like learning how to love.
This is the Bill Evans album out of the many I own, that I play the most. To my mind, this album is the distillation of an incredible and influential careerer.
I was able to have a masterclass at my university with Eliot Zigmund, the drummer on this album. He said playing with Bill Evans was an out of this world experience, and he was one of the greatest musicians of all time. And I believe it. I try to model my playing after Bill and Oscar. Beautiful piece, and a beautiful musician. Bill Evans will forever be known as one of the greatest pianists to ever live.
Great arrangement of Le Grand's wonderful tune. Who could do it better than Bill Evans? You really should list the personell in the info section at the top:
piano Bill Evans
bass Eddie Gomez
drums Eliot Zigmund
This is "La chanson de Maxence" from Michel Legrand, a really good french composer.
This song is from the movie "les demoiselles de Rochefort" from Jacque Demy
Enjoy !
When lonely feelings chill
The meadows of your mind,
Just think if Winter comes,
Can Spring be far behind?
Beneath the deepest snows,
The secret of a rose
Is merely that it knows
You must believe in Spring!
Just as a tree is sure
Its leaves will reappear;
It knows its emptiness
Is just a time of year
The frozen mountains dreams
Of April's melting streams
How crystal clear it seems
You must believe in spring
You must believe in love
And trust it's on its way
Just as a sleeping rose
Awaits the kiss of May
So in a world of snow
Of things that come and go
Where what you think you know
You can't be certain of
You must believe in spring and love
You must believe in love
And trust it's on its way
Just as a sleeping rose
Awaits the kiss of May
I first listened to this when my Arts teacher in high school gave me this album. I had never heard a jazz pianist before, let alone this kind of complex yet soothing music, and it helped me greatly in doing my homework, coupled with his constant reminders that anyone can be a good artist, even if they aren't naturally gifted for drawing like I'm not, and to this day I am proud to say he was the person who most believed in me and taught me the only drawing skills I have. Besides, it was impossible to predict that, 7 years later, I would today be studying Jazz music also.
I thought it was worth sharing this to make you understand how much of an impact a song and a good mentor can have on our lives.
