This man had one of the greatest baritone voices of the last century. Obscure to be sure amongst younger generations, but a guiding beacon to follow what truly wonderful music should be. I feel like I've touched the hand of God when listening to him sing.
As a child growing up in jamaica we jamaicans have a love for american soul music. I remember when i was 10 i first heard brook benton. When i migrated to the u.s, never did i dream i would see bb proform at the apollo theater 40 yrs later, may he rest in peace anu bless.
Brook Benton's voice is a dream and a pleasure always to listen to follow the tracks up with Nat king Cole and Marvin Gaye then you really couldn't do much better than that for soul
As good as he was, it's a shame that many today don't even know who he was much less have listened to his marvelous voice and style. This music still sends me after all these years. Thank God for You Tube, folks.
I grew up listening to Brook Benton in the 60's. My mother just loved his voice and played his records over and over! I learned to love that voice, too! When I would hear him sing and then do those famous dips with his voice a tingle would go through me! Still does! Endlessly, It's Just A Matter of Time and Rainy Night In Georgia are my fav Brook Benton songs! You touched a spot in my heart, brought back sweet memories when my mom was alive. Thank you so much!
Just one of the best that voice just lifts higher and higher it has always cheer me up I just wish I had the power to speak life into the great somewhere and bring him back to life he is too good to be buried but for now I will be thankful for the recordings left us I am eternally grateful Love God Bless I will always remember that Golden voice
I remember running to the record store for my Mother as soon as a new Brook Benton hit came out and she would play it over and over. Back then music was real soul.
