Gene was equally great doing ballads or rockers - sadly no longer with us, just like Eddie Cochran.....

Anybody else remember how good this sounded coming out a radio of a '55 Chevy?

i am sorry to say - as a Gene Vincent fan - the best rockabilly vers. of this song came from "TOOTER BOATMAN" this is an unissued early 60s track on Sonet 807 (LP) (Sweden, 1980)

Absolutely one of the very best voices ever recorded. And yes-it is a great sound. It is Johnny Meeks on guitar and you´ll also hear Eddie Cochran singing bass vocal

Now this have been my favorite Gene Vincent/Blue Caps song for at least the last year. For me it is almost impossible because as a rule - my rule - a smoocher can't beat a great faster song, a rocker, by same artist. But this is the exception that proves the rule. One that makes me all soft inside, but it is more, it is so damn addictive. And that Eddie was added as bass singer makes me feel I already arrived in heaven. My o my. LOL

I answer you - none beats this version. Ahhh..."rock-a-billy" version!? Seems to be an inflation in that expression. Rock-a-billy are for example "Good Rockin' Tonight" This is a 50's version of the "Wayward Wind" sung in harmonies. It is NO rock-a-billy! Period. Maybe more towards the doo-woop if needed a description....

Ah, it was you who wrote this. First, in my comments, I thought what is this for an airhead. Started being pissed off, hen I read some more and at last checked you up here. You got me! Elvis stole everything from Doris Day and she was the black woman who wrote 'Hound Dog'. Hmmm...?

I gotta get back again. This redording is remarcable, incedible goooooooooooooooooooood and great. Almost bordering to the most marvellous recordingd in any division I've ever heard in my life. Gene on lead, Cochran and the rest backing ...a marvellous redording/song of a marvellous tune, the gtr break...ahhhh, awesome Only miss the line of when he met that girl on the border town..but, you can't get everything. . I'm stunned by any standard. Totally gaffed!
