Just getting a word in edgeways is something!!, She was wonderful. Does anybody know that Gracie lived in Peacehaven, near Brighton, for a while and then turned her house into an orphanage which ,I assume ,she funded although I do not know. I remember it as a kid and, if you go there today, it has been turned into flats but has a plaque about Gracie on the wall
My nan's funeral was the other day and this song was played by her request and I cried uncontrollably... I could hear her singing it to me... I will miss her too much... RIP
This was played at my grandad's funeral, he thought it would be a great choice and it gave everyone a smile. Love and hugs to everyone who has lost someone!
My Mum (91 years) and I have agreed that if she dies before me we will play this Gracie Fields number at her funeral. Just as with Ellie Hummerstone below there will be many tears. But the song will bring smiles as well.
It's the first Christmas without my Nana tomorrow. I've started to listen to this when I miss her, because we lost her too suddenly to say goodbye and this was her funeral song. We're an hour away from Christmas and it doesn't feel like it yet. She always celebrated with us, and it won't be the same without her.
We miss you Nana. Merry Christmas.
Played this song at my mum's funeral. Just as she asked ,when she was going , there was lots of smiles ,giggles and tears just the way she wanted to go RIP MUM. LOVE YOU XXX
