This music touches me deeply too. It's remind me my father and mother, their teachings, their love....simply beautiful. Congratulation for the excellent work, mister Sakamoto
i was at the virgin megastore looking for good stuff.suddendly they played this in the cathedral for consumers....i stand ,listening.pure ecstasy................strange and wonderful moment
My wonderful yoga teacher use to play this at the end of our practice . I fell in love with it the first time I ever heard it . Just extraordinarily beautiful.
Ryuichi Sakamoto is undoubtely one of the best composers in the world. I was just a child when I listened The Last Emperor film for the first time, and I totally fell in love with his music. He has such a special sesibility that is incomparable to any other composer.
The guy who posted the lyrics above was correct but the final stanza sung in this piece was not evam eva vedanā saṃjñā saṃskāra vijñānaṃ.
It was the last line, the famous mantra, tadyathā: gate gate pāragate pārasaṃgate bodhi svāhā.
So the full lyrics is:
śāriputra: rūpaṃ śūnyatā śūnyataiva rūpaṃ
rūpān na pṛthak śūnyatā śunyatāyā na pṛthag rūpaṃ
yad rūpaṃ sā śūnyatā; ya śūnyatā tad rūpaṃ
tadyathā: gate gate pāragate pārasaṃgate bodhi svāhā
Working on the set of Little Buddha as a support person and the builder of the wooden boat Mary Jane during the on-the-water filming in Seattle was one of life's highlights for me; but nothing compares to the inspiration a get from Sakamoto's Acceptance piece. I have requested that is played at my burial or cremation.
