The love of my life, who I have been with for 23 yrs introduced me to Moondance. I met John on 11-01-92 and there was a giant orange harvest moon, in the sky. We consider it our song. Lol
My Dad has a Van Morrison CD with this song on it, that he played when I was little, and this definitely makes me think of being a little kid and this song being on in the background while eating supper with my family! I was writing a song today, and I had the tune in my head, I thought it was completely original, but then I realized that a little tiny bit of the tune sounded like another song but I COULDN'T THINK OF IT aside from that one second of the tune, and it was driving me crazy all day, but FINALLY, more of the tune came to me and my Mom & Dad recognized that it was this song! Now I can go to sleep happy! Also, shows how music can unknowingly inspire other music, I hadn't listened to this song in years, and I had no idea it was even in my mind, yet when I started writing that song, I was unconsciously inspired by this...
Pure and lovely romance...
"Moondance"
Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush
[Chorus:]
Can I just have one a' more Moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love
Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait 'til the morning has come
And I know that the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that you can't hide
[Chorus]
[Repeat 1st Verse]
One more Moondance with you in the moonlight
On a magic night
La, la, la, la in the moonlight
On a magic night
Can't I just have one more dance with you my love
Hats off to the engineer here, hell of a balanced mix for the instruments played so well on the track, with the vocal sitting just pretty out in front in the middle. We need more of this great music from some young musicians. Cheers for the upload.
The vibrations one can feel from this song are captured from a certain moment in time, an era, that no matter how hard we try, can never been repeated. The first time I heard Van Morrison sing "Moon Dance" was in 1974 when I was nearly 15 years old and was totally knocked out by it. To me it still sounds so fantastic but is also an echo from times gone by. Priceless
