This song haunts me. I am taken back to a long lost love in Texas. A small misunderstanding cost me someone so very special. She truly was beautiful. 28 years have passed since then. I moved, married and had children who are grown now, but this song takes me back to a warm summer night, making love under the stars with my lost love. I left a part of my heart with her and never got it back. I think of her still. Deep inside I hope she still remembers me, and I hope it is with deep affection.

That Hammond organ in the back ground is just perfect for an accompaniment to Willies voice and guitar. Hoagy Carmichael wrote this beautiful tune,but willie brought something extra to it.

My father used to play this 8 track tape all the time when I was a little girl. He recently passed away and we played the CD at his funeral at the beginning when people were being seated. It was perfect... Every time I hear this, I feel him with me.

If I remember right, someone told Willie not to make this album, as it would never sell.  Very glad Willie went ahead with it. Keep it up Willie.

I gave Willie's version of Stardust to my dad many years ago. One of the few times I made the old man smile.

It was probably more than 30yrs ago when I was working oil exploration in the Great Sandy Desert and at the end of contract, we all camped under a huge mesa mountain for three days waiting to be flown back home. 3 glorious, lazy days and nights under the stars and someone kept playing this album over and over and over. I never got sick of it. I got back home and bought it myself and still have it today. It still has me gazing up at the stars in wonder.

I had this played at my wedding, back in 87', as we exited after saying "I do" ... all the guys and gals walked out to this song. Yep, it holds a place in my heart, for sure.

When I first heard this album I felt it was one of the most moving interpretations of the these classic tunes I have known for a very long time.....even better than Frank Sinatra recordings.....the way he sings is so personal.....its just so simple.....brilliant.
