Kind of funny. When Willie was performing back in the '50's and early '60's he looked like a high school English teacher. Back then all performers were dressed "up". Now they look like they are normal. Just glad he's stuck in there.
My dad got shitfaced a few years back and bet $200 on a game of pool against me. He won in a single turn and was singing this song with a goofy smile on his face the whole time. I wasn't even mad.
YES ! Don Meredith breaking out with this song on MNF when the losing team is on the opponents 10 yard line in the last minute of the game, and the QB throws an interception. Gotta love it....
It's funny. When Willie started out. His hair, the way he dressed. He looked like he was a high school English teacher. All of them dressed that way. Boy, have things changed. Glad the old music is still here.
I remember seeing Willie back in the late 50's. He looked like a high school English teacher. He was a great back then. He's done nothing but get better. His appearance has changed but he's still Willie
The memory of Dandy Don Meredith busting out with this song on the old Monday night football games when it obviously was as good as over, brought me here.
Howard and Frank, Dandy...
R.I.P
I've never been a Willie Nelson fan, even though I've been in Texas for 30 years. But this song is genius. "Poncho and Lefty" is also really good. Now I know why he's a legend.
