I dont think either band death nor cynic influenced each other because when sceam bloody gore was released 1987 cynic had just formed so I think two badass bands came out at the same time only cynic had pure demos and cynics demos like 90 91 give deaths albums some comp in forms of technicality and cynic makes tool look like highschool kids.

They released tons of demo's before joining Death. Death was always the side project, hence Chuck raising a new lineup for ITP.

Incredible song, incredible album. Cynic is one of the most underrated bands in history.
