I love the opening urgency to the bassline and drums - tight!

I bought the LP when it first came out in '74 and later on, the cd. It was my introduction to Herbie and his music. Almost fourty years later, it's still one of my favourite albums.

Herbie just goes OFF in this classic jam, esp at the 3:10 mark........DAMN. i was 15 when this first graced my ears, and loved it since!

My uncle schooled me on Herbie Hancock with this album & Head Hunters when I was 15 - and I'm THANKFUL he did! At that time, I thought Prince was all there was.

this recording tought me to count! one of the most listened tracks in my lifetime.

This must have been one of Herbie's finest moments.....A masterpiece.

love this Herbie Hancock is the man, his fusion is some of my favorite.

The drumming is amazing but it's also important to remember that all of the Fender Rhodes language that everybody takes for granted is stuff that Herbie was literally inventing during his soloing on this stuff.

Music doesn't get better than this. The needle on my funkometer is reading "danger" level.

For some bizarre reason, I just had a vision of Lars Ulrich walking up to Herbie saying, 'great tune man, but tell me, where's the 'One'? lol....I thought it was kinda funny! Long live Herbie!! 

Thrust, Secrets, or Flood. Flood is a live album and has some cuts from a bunch of his 70's albums.

Wow this is like so badass.... I'm really starting to dig the whole jazz thing.... Your a LEGEND Herbie!!

Really makes most modern entries seem simplistic and dis-spirited. Amazing piece.
