Are the riffs at 2:21 and 2:39 played in reverse? Nevertheless, it sounds amazing, whatever they did to get that amazing sound.

I went to a small college in Kansas back in the 1970's and Kansas had just come out with their first album and was touring the state. I got to see them perform live for ONE DOLLAR. I was blown away. That was the first time I ever saw an electric violin and the band was "studio tight". They should be in the R&R HOF.

Saw these guys in Vegas at the Theatre for the performing Arts in 78 I believe. Cheap trick opened the show. My singer and I were invited backstage for the whole show. To this day I have yet to see or hear a group with the intense energy, enthusiasm and musicality as Kansas delivered. I was truly blown away. With all the angry pissed off so called badass rock groups out there, its refreshing to be able to go back and listen to rock when it was inspiring and uplifting. Thank you for that

When's the last time you heard this song on the so-called 'classic rock' radio stations anywhere in the US or the world in the past 30 years? Never of course. That's right, NEVER. That is why classic rock radio SUCKS ASS, because they play the same 15 songs always, and never any of the 1000's & 1000's of great classic rock songs we actually listened to in the 70's, like this.

Kudos Paul. Wish we could all say the same thing. Unfortunately I was raised in the Cesspool that is NY. I can tell you I saw my share of weird glances whenever I rolled passed the disco crowd cranking this song out of my '73 Cuda.

These fine gents opened for Queen in 1975 and everyone was wondering how a "Country" band would be opening for Queen. They opened with this tune and owned the place after that.

Reminds me a little bit of 'Burn'-era Deep Purple with a violin.

This song is pretty interesting since I know I've heard it before when I was younger in the early 2000s. I live in Sweden were rock is pretty unpopular, especially during that time. Now when I see how unknown this song is, it feels pretty weird knowing I've heard it long ago when famous songs like Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody were completely unknown to me until recently

some below said this should be the US national anthem. Sounds good to me ( no pun intended).

This was the first song by Kansas that I ever heard. a promising start on a wonderful journey. And I have always LOVED the album cover. I was born and raised in Kansas. I am proud of my state's history, and I'd like to think that Kansas (the band) is, too.

Kansas's early songs are like a weird combination of Yes and ZZ Top. Definitely a unique sound.
