I had to take my time and change my style, there ain t no feelin, only one step farther to the door
I know there s more than meets the eye, thinking of the things that i might see
Seems like i ve been everywhere before, only one step farther to the door Paradox, burning with the question in my mind
i had to take my time and change my style
Now i wonder is something gonna make it all worthwhile, and i ve been there Paradox, thinking of the things that i might see
I m not afraid to think that i might fall, seems like i ve been everywhere before Kansas, strange desire
Seems like i ve been everywhere before, something tells me it s all right
Like to see it fore i die for sure, now i wonder is something gonna make it all worthwhile
Seems there s nothing else for me to find, i had to take my time and change my style
Still i think there surely must be more, still i think there surely must be more
I know there s more than meets the eye, i was needing something that would last
Strange desire, i know there s more than meets the eye
Seems there s nothing else for me to find, i was going nowhere fast Kansas, cause i ve been here
And i ve been there, like to see it fore i die for sure Paradox, seems like i ve been everywhere before
I m not afraid to think that i might fall, i had to take my time and change my style, i ve been livin
thinking of the things that i might see
Now i wonder is something gonna make it all worthwhile, still i think there surely must be more, i had to take my time and change my style
i was needing something that would last
i m not afraid to think that i might fall
i ve been livin
something tells me it s all right
Feels the same as findin out the key, i know there s more than meets the eye, cause i ve been here
I ve seen it all a hundred times, seems like i ve been everywhere before
One of the features of most prog rock was the incredible level of difficulty in terms of time signatures, syncopation, chord progressions all composed into and around interesting themes lyrically. This song - along with MANY other Kansas songs - is emblematic of this and is why they are one of my all time favorite prog bands.
"I'm on fire
Burning with the question in my mind
Strange desire
Seems there's nothing else for me to find
'Cause I've been here, and I've been there
Seems like I've been everywhere before
I've seen it all a hundred times
Still I think there surely must be more"
WOW!!!!
Back then music was really inspired by something and played with the heart.
I feel so old, but I'm glad I grew up during those times.
thanks for the memories.
I'll never forget hearing this song for the very first time. Their 2nd or 3rd show of the Point Of Know Return tour in 1977. Few knew this song, yet. I was on the 10th row, front. I still remember looking around the crowd and seeing the faces of those who, like me, were clearly in AWE of what we were all hearing. I want to go back.
When asked what my favorite song is, I have to qualify my answer by citing "my favorite non-Kansas song", because even though I love a lot of music across the decades, in the end, its not even fair to compare anything to Kansas-- Not even Boston or Journey. Kansas' music is the only music, that actually makes my day better.
i had a yellow tour t-shirt of this album we got at the show in 77 woa!! i wish i still had it and i wish kansas still was around no steve no kansas period.

Seems like I've been everywhere before
I've seen it all a hundred times
Still I think there surely must be more..."
