To Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel: Thank you very much for making this lp. It is truly a thing of beauty. It has become a part of what I am today. I listen to it often and It never ceases to pacify my weariness after a hard day of living. Thank you.
This is the one of biggest reasons why music is an art. Simon & Garfunkel, thank you for the brilliant songs with marvelous melodies and incredible lyrics!
Just about the best song ever. This is what I would call a perfect lyric - not a word wrong, not a word too many, everything so in balance - if I was a songwriter, I would've given up as soon as I heard this!
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls
And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain drenched streets
To england where my heart lies
My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
Kiss you when you start your day
And the song i was writing, is left undone
I don't know why i spend my time
Writing songs i can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme
And so you see i have come to doubt
All that i once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth i know is you
And as i watch the drops of rain
Weave thier weary paths and die
I know that i am like the rain
There but for the grace of you, go i
Amazing ❤
To me, and only in my opinion: this is about as good as songwriting can get. To my ears, as a song, this is as near to perfection as it gets...stunning, beautiful, intelligent and thought provoking
Aside from the song, you know what I absolutely love are the comments. So courteous and respectful. What does that say about a type of music you decide to listen to, and what you are drawn to? I often find the same in the Jazz and classical genres. Just good people. Take a bow my friends.
