Hi Rob Tymon. You're right of course. However we have to note that Jim Kerr isn't cool. And that's a good thing.. I Reckon the real life difference between U2 and Simple minds is that Jim Kerr means it.

Stunning! Simple Minds is one of those bands you can never stop listening to. It's been years since the first time I listened to this wonderful band from Scotland. I just want to say thanks Simple Minds for the good music through all these years. You never let your fans down.

A Simple Minds classic from the early 90s -  a rare thing indeed. The Irony is that they were at their peak and this song and the album it's from should have delivered them even more success....but something happened and their appeal started to wane......why? I don't know,. but I suppose these things happen They should have done what U2 did in the early 90s and reinvent themselves to become arty and  more pop-py as they were when they started out a decade earlier. Maybe it was the heavy 80s style 'stadium rock' which started to go out of fashion around 1991. SM hung on to this style for too long perhaps. ....but even so, they were masters of stadium rock, gave millions around the world great shows, and their tunes just hit you straightaway. Reckon they are better at stadium rock than even U2.

'Real Life' and 'New gold Dream' are 2 of the best songs ever made and my favourite 2 songs from Simple minds …. i also love 'Somebody up there likes you’ & ‘’Theme for great cities’ i am always reminded of the movie Bladerunner while listening to these 2 songs as they share very similar beats and effects
