The Beach Boys - In My Room download song

I love the trance-like, airy feel of this song. Sounds almost melancholy, but it's a rejoicing in being alone in my room, where nobody can hurt me. Wish this was 5 minutes instead of 2...

This song is heartbreaking in its beauty   Brian Wilson's father was an abusive monster and Wilson sought refuge from this monster "in his room."

It's hard to believe this gorgeous ballad was a "B" side... but then again, "Don't Worry Baby" and "God Only Knows" were "B" sides, too.

Some of the most beautiful harmonies in Rock History...................absolutely gorgeous!!

I'm 71, old hippie. I live In Port Townsend WA. Me and two buddies work this harmony once a week. Even if we never get it down good enough to take it out in public, the effort is worthwhile in ways that are only possible with tight three part harmony.

Beach Boys fans know what this song is all about. If you just love the song but don't know the story, the Wilson brothers were physically and emotionally abused by their father; his bedroom was where Brian could listen to his radio and otherwise take refuge from the garbage of a toxic household.

this reminds me of Junior high/high school spending time alone thinking laying on my bed....I think all teens look at thier room as their refuge in adolescent

Gah....Brian's sense of harmony was absurdly beautiful; like religious music for a religion that doesn't exist. I especially love the interesting "passing chords" in this song...like at 0:31. "Warmth of the Sun" has great passing chords too. Brian had this uncanny ability to mix traditional 'easy on the ear' harmonies with unconventional exotic tonalities, creating such an idiosyncratic sonic world. Good Vibrations is probably the pinnacle of that imo. Wilson called it his "pocket symphony"...which is a perfect description!

The harmonies here..........delightful.  Always loved this one.
